The Blue Nile Falls, called Tis Abay, drop off the lava lip a short drive from Bahir Dar. The volume depends on the rainy season and on how much water the dam upstream is releasing, so a guide or the hotel desk should confirm the flow before you go.
The walk from the village crosses a stone bridge and climbs to the spray. Wear shoes you can get wet. There is little lodging at the falls themselves. Stay in Bahir Dar and go out for the morning.
